The brand-new USSDC by SC.Soft

One more story follows the Multiplatform project, which is being implemented for one of the mobile operators in South Asia.

Earlier, we talked about the completion of the first stage and the launch of key platforms, including the USSDC. Today, let’s speak more about the USSDC update and what is now better in it.

The update reason

Over the years of working with different versions of USSD products, the SC.Soft team has already highlighted typical problems with such solutions.

  • They are aimed at strong personalization of the software according to the client’s request;

  • They scale poorly without the involvement of developers;

  • They require a certain level of expertise from the operator in scripting languages (Lua, JS, etc.);

  • They are difficult to set up and maintain;

  • They work on unintuitive, inconvenient interfaces.

Our past version of the USSDC was no exception. Initially, it was developed as a system for mass push mailings and then began to turn into a kind of USSDGW platform. In such an architecture, there was no point in developing the product further: it was easier and more honest to create a new one.

With the high demands on the platform from the customer, the brand-new product was only a matter of time.

What is new in this version

The updated platform has become more convenient, reliable, and flexible.

  • New capacity: the system can now withstand 10 times the load of the previous version.

  • Switching to the web interface: system management does not require knowledge in Lua, JS or PHP. Now everything is configured through a clear visual panel.

  • Flexible creation of USSD menus: the client’s employees can build their own menus, including dynamic ones.

  • Integration with external systems: requests to third-party platforms via REST, support for SMPP and HTTP protocols for working with content providers.

  • Menu display conditions: the platform is able to show different USSD scripts depending on the properties of the subscriber.

  • Access and security management: You can now restrict access to certain requests, as well as use MSISDN whitelists and blacklists for services.

The solution will allow the operator:

  • to manage your services independently, without involving developers;

  • to promptly launch new scripts, focusing on current market needs;

  • to work faster and more reliably, even with unstable networks and high load.

The USSDC is no longer just an individual solution for a single customer. Thanks to the project with this operator, it was possible to transform internal developments into a full-fledged commercial product that is already ready for scaling.

We are confident that such a platform will be in demand from other operators, especially in countries with an emerging telecom market.

Building a national IMEI registration system that works: lessons from live deployments

Registering mobile devices by IMEI has become a mainstream instrument of digital policy. Such systems now operate in dozens of countries under different names — NEIR in Bangladesh, DIRBS in Pakistan, CEIR in India, national IMEI registration in Uzbekistan — yet they address the same core task, and are known in the industry collectively as a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). For regulators and operators weighing one, the practical question is how to design a system that delivers measurable results without creating friction for subscribers.

Product Life Cycle in Practice: Managing the Maturity of SMSC

When people talk about the Product Life Cycle, they usually picture the textbook curve: launch, growth, maturity, decline. In practice it is not a graph but a specific moment when a decision has to be made about a product that still works but no longer matches the reality of the market.

Fraud prevention is more critical than ever — and our platform is ready

Telecom fraud is one of the fastest-growing threats in the industry. MEF, GSMA, and regional regulators worldwide are dedicating increasing attention to the issue: round tables, working groups, and new legislative frameworks are emerging across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe.
