eSIM (embedded SIM) is a module built into the device that allows you to use smartphones, electronic tablets and other devices without a physical SIM card. Instead, the subscriber’s data is downloaded to the device over a wireless network.
Advantages of the eSIM technology for your subscribers:
Usability: there is no need to physically change the SIM card when changing the operator or traveling. The new operator profile is uploaded to the device remotely.
Multi-profile support: users can have multiple active profiles from different operators on the same device, switching between them as needed.
Compact device sizes: free up space for a physical SIM card slot, which allows making devices more compact, as well as increasing the battery capacity.
Safety: eSIM cannot be broken, removed or lost.
Advantages of the eSIM technology for manufacturers and operators:
Simplify logistics: there is no need to pre-install physical SIM cards.
Access to new markets: low-consumption devices (M2M / IoT), wearables (smartwatches), the travel (e)SIM card market.
Cost reduction: reduce the cost of making cards.
In April, the agreement with one of the Asian operators on the supply of RSP (Esim) was concluded, and the platform was successfully installed. As part of the SC.Soft solution, the cloud platform has some functional features.
For example, it contains a useful eSIM_check module, available when using eSIM with SC.SMS-Settings. It allows you to automatically inform subscribers that their terminals support eSIM. This module increases eSIM implementation in automatic mode.
Thus, if a subscriber has a physical SIM card and purchases an eSIM-enabled device, DMS will send a notification with an offer to replace the card with an eSIM. Messages are sent automatically and do not require additional actions.
Also, in addition to the eSIM technology itself, the operator has access to the RSP reporting system, which allows tracking profile statuses, statistics and dynamics in graphical mode.
SC.RSP is a cloud platform for the preparation, delivery, storage and management of the eSIM profiles for mobile operators, implemented in the SaaS format. eSIM technology is already supported by many modern smartphones, electronic tablets, smartwatches and other mobile-enabled devices. In the future, eSIM is likely to completely replace physical SIM cards.
