Sometimes it is difficult for subscribers to untangle the phone settings to use additional services, such as MMS or mobile internet. The reasons are the lack of time to study the instructions or the lack of knowledge about the mobile phone functions.
SC.SMS-Settings platform configures the mobile devices automatically. Auto settings will be sent immediately after a new device appears in the network. Thus, subscribers can use the MNO’s services without any obstacles. Settings could be also sent by the command from MNO’s external systems or by means of manual subscriber’s ordering via SMS, USSD, IVR.
In addition to the settings sent to the terminals, the platform can be used as a marketing research tool — the system stores information about many parameters of mobile devices. These data allow to create unique offers to subscribers.
SC.SMS-Settings complex can be installed in the minimum configuration which does not require integration with the MNO’s signaling network (in this case, integration with the MNO’s SMSC via SMPP protocol will be required). The solution virtualization is also supported.
Key features
Different ways to send the settings to the subscriber:
Automatic sending upon detection of a new MSISDN-IMEI-IMSI bundle in the network
On command from the billing system (provisioning), e.g. when the service is activated
In response to an SMS/USSD command from a subscriber (settings request). The command may also be sent automatically by the application on the SIM card
On command from the platform’s web interface
On a provisioning command from any other system in the MNO’s network (e.g. a subscriber calls the subscriber support service and requests to set up his phone)
Bulk delivery of settings is possible over a certain subscriber lists formed using the database of SMS-Settings or otherwise
Support for various types of settings
Basic: WAP, MMS, Internet via 3G/GPRS, Internet for Java applications, Internet for the browser without using an WAP gateway
Optional: VPN, SyncML, Video streaming, Email, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, PoC (Push-to-Talk), OMA DM Account setting, Wi-Fi
Forming of not only SMS messages with settings, but also information messages (Welcome SMS, Welcome MMS, manual setting instructions, etc.)
Updating the device database with user parameters
Generation of statistical reports about platform operation, on the base of subscriber devices
Setting groups of subscribers:
Nested groups (two levels) are supported
Group belonging can influence on settings and notification generation. Group mechanism allows to divide subscribers by macro regions, billing plans, their device settings
It is possible to perform bulk messaging
Monthly updates of the database with telephone models — DB contains data for not less than 97% of MNO’s subscriber devices
Support for different techniques of new subscriber detection:
Processing CheckIMEI events from the MNO’s switching equipment. For this purpose, the SC.EIR platform is included into installation. The quickest method
Processing of CDR files received from the MNO’s switching equipment
Reception of information from other equipment in the MNO’s network (e.g., from HLR or EIR). Development of new interworking interfaces is possible
SMS from the platform can be independently delivered, thus, allowing to save on regular SMSC licenses. For this purpose, the delivery package includes the SC.SMSC platform
MMSC Provisioning
