AI Module in SMS Firewall: Technologies That Stay Ahead of Industry Challenges

A few years ago, artificial intelligence in the telecom industry was a novelty. Today, however, it has become an essential tool for network protection. Fraud schemes are growing increasingly sophisticated, and the volume of spam traffic continues to rise. As technologies evolve, the AI solutions developed by SC.Soft are advancing in tandem with the market.

Back in 2021, the company introduced an AI module in the SMS Firewall system capable of analyzing and blocking unwanted traffic. Today, this tool is even more powerful: it not only filters messages but also understands their context—identifying hidden patterns and anomalies—to help telecom operators safeguard their networks.

An AI Module That Understands Meaning

The updated AI module leverages Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies to analyze text messages. This enables the system to «read» messages much like a human, distinguishing between marketing campaigns, transactional notifications, phishing schemes, and spam. For example, the system recognizes character substitutions (such as «cоde» instead of «code»), detects fraudulent data transfer requests, and prevents their delivery.

Traffic Anomaly Detection

The machine learning system monitors changes in message volumes and detects atypical spikes in activity. If traffic from a specific source suddenly surges within an operator’s network, the AI module analyzes it to determine whether it stems from a mass spam attack or an attempt to bypass filters through sim boxes.

Combating Fraud: Proactive Protection

Thanks to the AI Firewall, operators gain a tool for the early detection of fraudulent schemes. The system analyzes key phrases in conversations and helps block potential threats before they cause any damage. For instance, if a message requests a banking code, the AI module can send an alert to the operator’s security team.

Why Is This Important for Telecom Operators?

The rising volume of messages and the increasing sophistication of fraudulent schemes render traditional filtering methods less effective. Leveraging AI enables operators not only to prevent financial losses but also to maintain their reputation as reliable providers who protect their subscribers.

Technologies continue to evolve, and SC.Soft keeps pace with the times by offering solutions that adapt to new market challenges. AI in SMS Firewall is not just a trend—it's a vital tool for effectively safeguarding modern communication networks.

Building a national IMEI registration system that works: lessons from live deployments

Registering mobile devices by IMEI has become a mainstream instrument of digital policy. Such systems now operate in dozens of countries under different names — NEIR in Bangladesh, DIRBS in Pakistan, CEIR in India, national IMEI registration in Uzbekistan — yet they address the same core task, and are known in the industry collectively as a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). For regulators and operators weighing one, the practical question is how to design a system that delivers measurable results without creating friction for subscribers.

Product Life Cycle in Practice: Managing the Maturity of SMSC

When people talk about the Product Life Cycle, they usually picture the textbook curve: launch, growth, maturity, decline. In practice it is not a graph but a specific moment when a decision has to be made about a product that still works but no longer matches the reality of the market.

Fraud prevention is more critical than ever — and our platform is ready

Telecom fraud is one of the fastest-growing threats in the industry. MEF, GSMA, and regional regulators worldwide are dedicating increasing attention to the issue: round tables, working groups, and new legislative frameworks are emerging across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe.
