  • SC.Soft and GSMA have signed an agreement on getting access to the unified TAC database (IMEI DB)

SC.Soft and GSMA have signed an agreement on getting access to the unified TAC database (IMEI DB)

Getting up-to-date information directly from such a reliable and respected source will allow our company to provide some services more effectively. First of all, it concerns our CEIR and DMS platforms, where relevant and accurate data on devices registered in the mobile network is critical to its operator.

The 8-digit Type Allocation Code (TAC) forms the first part of the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), which identifies each mobile device and its model specification. TAC is required for all 3GPP-compliant equipment types worldwide, including IoT devices, cellular modems, and sports monitors. GSMA and its appointed Reporting Bodies are the only globally recognized and official source of TACs for creating IMEIs. Thus their database is the most complete and trustable TAC and IMEI register.

Building a national IMEI registration system that works: lessons from live deployments

Registering mobile devices by IMEI has become a mainstream instrument of digital policy. Such systems now operate in dozens of countries under different names — NEIR in Bangladesh, DIRBS in Pakistan, CEIR in India, national IMEI registration in Uzbekistan — yet they address the same core task, and are known in the industry collectively as a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). For regulators and operators weighing one, the practical question is how to design a system that delivers measurable results without creating friction for subscribers.

Product Life Cycle in Practice: Managing the Maturity of SMSC

When people talk about the Product Life Cycle, they usually picture the textbook curve: launch, growth, maturity, decline. In practice it is not a graph but a specific moment when a decision has to be made about a product that still works but no longer matches the reality of the market.

Fraud prevention is more critical than ever — and our platform is ready

Telecom fraud is one of the fastest-growing threats in the industry. MEF, GSMA, and regional regulators worldwide are dedicating increasing attention to the issue: round tables, working groups, and new legislative frameworks are emerging across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe.
