  • A new operator in Central Asia has launched the SMSC+STP platform, providing essential services for subscribers and laying the foundation for further network development.
19 August 2025

A new operator in Central Asia has launched the SMSC+STP platform, providing essential services for subscribers and laying the foundation for further network development.

For any mobile operator, the launch of SMSC and STP is a crucial step. SMSC in its full configuration (supporting both P2P and A2P) enables subscribers to exchange messages with each other and receive service notifications from applications and services. STP is required for routing signaling messages, ensuring reliable communication between different network nodes.

With these solutions in place, the new operator can deliver messaging services from day one, ensure stable SMS performance, and prepare the network for future growth and scaling. One of the key aspects of the project was coordination with other vendors: aligning timelines, additional testing, and fine-tuning. The implementation took 7 months.

The next step will be the deployment of EIR and the expansion of SMSC functionality with additional logic and configurations, opening up new opportunities for service development and improved customer experience.

«Launching a network from scratch is always a challenge. The most difficult part was coordinating with different vendors and aligning their plans. But thanks to joint efforts, within 7 months we managed to provide the operator with a stable launch of essential services and lay the foundation for further growth,» said the project manager.

Building a national IMEI registration system that works: lessons from live deployments

Registering mobile devices by IMEI has become a mainstream instrument of digital policy. Such systems now operate in dozens of countries under different names — NEIR in Bangladesh, DIRBS in Pakistan, CEIR in India, national IMEI registration in Uzbekistan — yet they address the same core task, and are known in the industry collectively as a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). For regulators and operators weighing one, the practical question is how to design a system that delivers measurable results without creating friction for subscribers.

Product Life Cycle in Practice: Managing the Maturity of SMSC

When people talk about the Product Life Cycle, they usually picture the textbook curve: launch, growth, maturity, decline. In practice it is not a graph but a specific moment when a decision has to be made about a product that still works but no longer matches the reality of the market.
